Has anyone here been to or participated in the Blob Fest ? It happens in Phoenixville, PA ; near Valley Forge. That's where the movie theater is that they used in the original Blob movie. Anyway, I'm thinking about going this Summer. Its held the weekend after the 4th of July this year.

Anyway, I'm thinking about going this Summer. Its held the weekend after the 4th of July this year. We are trying to work out a bus trip to this event. I'm working on bus quotes and waiting for the Colonial to put out the event schedule for the Saturday date (July 10). It's going to be at least $50 a person because we'd need a bus for more than 8 hours. I don't know if people would be interested in an overnighter - that would run maybe $130-$150 a person.

I would prefer to not do an overnighter but I also would like to see them run out of the theater so if it meant staying overnight to do so I would have to say overnight.

I don't know if they show the film then run out or just get people inside and run out at 9. If it's the latter, we could probably do it and leave right after but we wouldn't get home until close to 2 AM. We could also leave later in the morning to get there which would cut down on the bus hours.

I don't think it's worth going if you don't get to take part in the theater event. I don't actually want to run out with the people. I think it would be more fun to watch them as they run out.

If you go you'd have to run out. Unless it is way to crowded like brad said, but it would have to be really crowded to get me to sit out.

Okay folks, the running out event takes place on Friday night. So I don't think this is going to work.
But - is anyone interested in going to the Mutter Museum on Saturday, July 10 and stopping at the Blob Fest street fair on the way back? It would still be about $50 a person just for the bus. The Mutter admission is $14. Not sure about whether there is an admission for Blob Fest on that day.
Please discuss.

OK, now to look at this from a realist point of view, its gonna be at least 6 hours to Philly, which means to make it by noon, we'd have to leave at 06:00. This may be a problem for some. We'd have to find a central location to meet. After diddy bopping through the museum, you're talking another 2 hours to get to Blob Fest ( with traffic ). So, if we spend 4 hours in the museum, that makes it about 18:00 ( 6:00 pm for non hackers.) Figure at least one person to get lost in the crowd, stopping to eat somewhere, bathroom breaks and beer runs. We should get back about 02:00. Sounds like a pretty full day to me. I would really have to like the people I'm around, to spend that much time with them......

I would really have to like the people I'm around, to spend that much time with them...... Not necessarily. Using Business Route 22 -- the address given for Monroeville Mall -- the trip would be just under five hours. (Click here for the map and enter 19 S 22nd St Philadelphia, Pa 19103 in the second direction spot. For some reason, this link didn't hold the museum's address.) Also, according to the Mutter Museum's website, it closes at 5pm, so unless our group got locked in for an hour, we'd be leaving earlier than 6pm. So, say we meet at 8am at Monroeville Mall. We'd hit Philly around 1pm, which still gives us four hours (give or take) to look around. There's also the possibility we won't need all four hours, which could give us time to grab a bite there or nearby. That should hold us till swinging by the street fair, which I'm sure will have some form of food stand or restaurant somewhere.
