OK, now to look at this from a realist point of view, its gonna be at least 6 hours to Philly, which means to make it by noon, we'd have to leave at 06:00. This may be a problem for some. We'd have to find a central location to meet. After diddy bopping through the museum, you're talking another 2 hours to get to Blob Fest ( with traffic ). So, if we spend 4 hours in the museum, that makes it about 18:00 ( 6:00 pm for non hackers.) Figure at least one person to get lost in the crowd, stopping to eat somewhere, bathroom breaks and beer runs. We should get back about 02:00. Sounds like a pretty full day to me. I would really have to like the people I'm around, to spend that much time with them...... Not necessarily. Using Business Route 22 -- the address given for Monroeville Mall -- the trip would be just under five hours. (Click here for the map and enter 19 S 22nd St Philadelphia, Pa 19103 in the second direction spot. For some reason, this link didn't hold the museum's address.) Also, according to the Mutter Museum's website, it closes at 5pm, so unless our group got locked in for an hour, we'd be leaving earlier than 6pm. So, say we meet at 8am at Monroeville Mall. We'd hit Philly around 1pm, which still gives us four hours (give or take) to look around. There's also the possibility we won't need all four hours, which could give us time to grab a bite there or nearby. That should hold us till swinging by the street fair, which I'm sure will have some form of food stand or restaurant somewhere. What I meant to say was, that we would get to the Blob Fest by 18:00, if we left the museum by 16:00. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I was generalizing as far as time. But, it still goes that I'd really have to like the people, to be around them for that long a period of time.

just as a litmus, keep in mind, even your friendly neighborhood saucy only needed about an hour in the mutter. but, 1. i'm generally quick in museums and 2. i was already pretty familiar with the shizz in the exhibits. and the gift shop, which does contain good stuff, is disappointingly small.
and you get to a point where you're like, oh another fetal developmental anomaly. *sigh*

I'd be willing to skip a trip to the Mutter and stick to Blobfest (despite missing the big run-out). Don't get me wrong, I love the Mutter, but it wouldn't be worth the considerable detour for someone, like myself, who's already seen the place. One day trip to Blob Fest and back for $50? Yeah...I'm in. What else am I gonna do on a Saturday?

Saturday at Blob Fest is a street fair - free admission. There is a double feature of The Blob and 20 Million Miles to Earth at the Colonial Theater at 3:30 PM with tickets $6-$10. There are also some locations from the film throughout town that might be of interest.
It's about 4 1/2 hours (not including rest stops) from Monroeville Mall to Phoenixville. Leave at 8 AM, get into town a little before 1 PM, get some lunch, look around and head home around 5, be back before 11 PM if we stop somewhere quick for dinner or sooner if we grab something and eat it on the bus. Yes, it's a long day but something different.

This way, we could watch movies to and from Phoenixville, and we wouldn't have to spend as much time talking to Rich.
