Tangerine Dream : Lost In Strings Vol. 1. There's really good stuff and some bad here. Its a collection of Guitar solos from the Tangerine Dream. You can't call it Rock N Roll by any stretch of the imagination. I got exactly what I expected. Edgar Froese is the founder, leader and in these cases, the main guitar player of Tangerine Dream. Some of these songs I've heard on live discs, a few not at all. This is all Electronica. Its not for everyone. I've been a fan since 1974. If you're having a party and want to get rid of some of the riff-raff, this is an excellent way of weeding out the non hackers. I used to do this, so its probably not a proper thing to do.... Just sayin' that if it becomes necessary, this is how you do it. One final note..... Edgar died a little less than a year ago.

I've watched Fear the Walking Dead since the beginning. A little too slow for me. Moves slower than nurse aides in a nursing home. I think I'm done with it. The season's almost over and I doubt if there's been more than 10 walking dead actually killed (or seen) so far. Walking Dead starts Oct. 11.

HELLLLOOOOO ! Anyone alive anymore ? Christ, its like a graveyard on Neptune around here ! Nobody but me watching movies ? Nobody but me listening to tunes or reading books ?! Nobody throwing rocks at joggers ? Nobody kicking weightlifters in the nuts when they have the barbells up over their heads ? Nobody with squirt guns full of ice cold water shooting Dobermans in the nut sack ?
Just old SJ checking in. Fear the Walking Dead starts Sunday. Anybody actually like iZombie ? It was funny, at first. Then it never got any better, so I gave up on it. Well, write if you get work.

Very, very sad news for the Horror Community. Sir Christopher Lee has passed on. He played every part with an air of dignity and could play any part imaginable. He will always be remembered by anyone who has seen his movies.

Jersey Boys. This is the story of the 4 Seasons. I thought it was really well done. The guy playing Frankie Valli was pretty good, but sadly not the real thing. I was a little kid in their hay day, but I remember hearing Sherry on the radio. I never knew about the gambling. Frankie Valli almost worked himself to death, not only to pay off the debt but also for an ungrateful wife. I give it a 4 1/2 outta 5.

Edgar Froese. Founding member of Tangerine Dream. The only original member of TD that was still touring. Until fairly recently TD was a 3 member band that played Electronic music. I discovered them in early 1975 in an article in Crawdaddy. They were playing cathedrals exclusively in those days. The article intrigued me, so when they played a local cathedral in Naples, I went. They had a laser show and were so loud. They were different, in that there was no singing, just synthesizers, electronic drums and a flute sometimes. Very creative. I became a fan. Their records and cassettes weren't readily available in the Post Exchange, so I waited until I was discharged to go to a real record shop. To make a long story short I followed them faithfully till the mid 90's. Then I started listening again in 2010. The band has a real drummer, a sax player, a few keyboards and 2 guitar players. The music is fuller and richer now. RIP Edgar.

For anyone interested, there's gonna be a new zombie series on the CW network starting March 17th. It based loosely on the comic book. ( They say.) This is the same network that brought you Supernatural, the Vampire Diaries, the Flash and Arrow. Only time will tell. They just announced it on Yahoo.

Ayreon : Actual Fantasy Revisited. This was actually the last Ayreon album I bought. Its also my favorite. It makes me smile by how good it is. This was originally recorded in 1996 and released. In 2004, he reviewed the masters and decided to put real drums, bass and some other things on it and rerecorded everything he wanted to change, thus, the title change. What's cool is he gives you DVD along with the CD. The DVD has a 5.1 surround sound mix, a stereo mix of the original album with an album length video, and a short of them making the changes. Worth twice the asking price. This has renewed my faith in music.

Star One : Live On Earth. Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a Dutch Composer and Guitarist. His on going project is a band named Ayreon. Its HEAVY Rock Opera. A combination of Progressive Rock and Metal. Lucassen is a pretty good guitarist and the music is cool. He has another band named Star One that plays its own music and some of Ayreon's music as well. Live On Earth is a concert he put on in the Netherlands. Its also on DVD. I watched the show on Youtube and was so impressed that I bought the CD.

The Human Instinct : Stoned Guitar. This is good, very good. They take riffs from other songs and jam over them. These guys were from New Zealand and almost made it here. Again.......... American radio in all its wisdom didn't play their material. Nice going guys...... Anyway..... here's a sample of what we all missed in 1970. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnzvh-Tkjc8

Wicked Lady : The Axeman Cometh. I really like this. Hard early 70's British Rock with a hard Bluesy edge to it. According to the liner notes, these guys cleared a bar with one chord. They made 2 albums, both live. Worth a listen or two or 3. I went through this early 70's thing a month or so ago ( Fuzzy Duck, Brainticket, Human Instinct, you know........ Bands that I hadn't heard of. But by being turned onto one, you find another and another. But Wicked Lady stood out and so did Fuzzy Duck. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYJ_hd-ALO0

Happy Birthday Joe ! Another year come and gone. Another year wiser. Another winter to remind us of winters past, when we were young. A feeling of joy at the coming of spring. And knowing what a great time it is to be alive. Rock on Brother.

Ten Years After : Recorded Live ( Expanded Version ). The original version was released in 1972. There was nothing wrong with it. I never did like drum solos, but in those days a 10 minute drum solo was SOP. Anyway, they've added almost 70 minutes of unreleased stuff from the same tour. Mostly jams. Some of it's good and lots of it is great. The biggest problem was American radio. It played a stripped down version of I'm Going Home and more often I'd Love To Change the World. That was it. Quite a career synopsis, I must say, www.youtube.com/watch?v=W87Ycrb7xP8

Vamp U. This was more silly than scary. A vampire who's also a History Professor. This professor suffers from " Limp Fang " after he kills his true love. He has been dealing with his problem for 300 years, his fangs won't grow. His problem is solved when a girl shows up at the University who is identical to his true love. Its worth watching once.
