So, we are going to start a weekly film night at my congregation down here in Smithton. The overarching theme is Screening the Sacred: Religious Themes in Film. I am aiming at mostly foreign, documentaries and feature films that the average person might not have seen. But I would also love to do some horror themes.
For instance, it would be cool to show a night of exorcism films and have a discussion of various religion's stances on possession. Stigmata is another perhaps borderline horror film with potential.
Any suggestions on decent horror films that offer potential for fun discussions or perhaps a guest speaker?

i really liked Martyrs. it's kind of only tangentially religious, or at least it deals with systems of thought that have their basis in many religious principles, but as far as discussing the purpose of suffering and people playing god, it's great. also, it's fucking harrowing; screen it yourself first before you decide on it. dammit. now i want to watch it.
