Amodio sucks farts out of mattresses. He shoulda been the one fired, not Everhart. The only good thing he ever did for Duquesne was hire Everhart in the first place. What else has Amodio done? He got rid of baseball. He made improvements to the Palumbo Center. But how smart must one be to look around the Palumbo & decide it needed a more modern scoreboard & the bleachers could be replaced by chairs?
One of the prejudices that Everhart had to overcome in his 6 years was the perception (or reality) that Duquesne was cheap & the administration wasn't behind the basketball program. So this month Amodio informs the CBI that he doesn't want them to invite the Dukes coz he doesn't wanna spring for the plane fare to fly 'em to a road game. I can't substantiate this, but I think it was part of the reason for the departures of Talley & Herrera. Basketball players wanna play basketball. They don't want a situation where the administration is cheap & isn't into it.
So TJ wants to "play at the next level." I tire of the feeling of entitlement in today's society. Why not stay here & work hard & make Duquesne "the next level"? Wouldn't that be gratifying, particularly since it's a home town team? Much easier to leave & go someplace else so he can "get" his NCAA Tournament appearance rather than earn it.
Now there might be more departures (altho' Sean Johnson & Jerry Jones say they're staying) & we may lose our recruits, the highly-touted Donovan Jack & Willie Moore. Firing Everhart may set the program back a few years.
Did I mention Amodio should be fired?
That's tonight's sermon.
