Scary movies!
•The Hollywood Theater in Dormont has tons of horror flicks this month including 12 Weeks of Sci Fi/Horror (starting Oct 12), The Birds (Oct 16 & 20), the original Friday the 13th (Oct 22), The Human Centipede (Oct 22), silent horror films (Oct 23), the original Halloween (Oct 27 & 30), Munster Go Home with special guest Butch Patrick (Oct 28 & 29) and a William Castle marathon (Oct 30). Rounding out the month on Halloween night is the world premiere of Barnabus Bailey & The Greatest Show Unearthed featuring The Driller Killer, Return of the Living Dead and Welcome to Deer Creek. www.thehollywooddormont.org

•The Strand Theater in Zelienople offers The Corpse Bride (Oct 14-16), Psycho (Oct 21-23) and Night of the Living Dead (Oct 28-30). •Rage of the Stage Players present world premiere stage adaptation of the Butcher Brothers’ film “The Hamiltons”, written by Pittsburgh playwright James Michael Shoberg. The show runs from October 21st through November 5th at the South Park Theater. •Evenings in Quarantine: The Zombie Opera makes a triumphant return October 27th to 30th at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater. •Castle Blood enters its 19th year of scares in 2011! •Kennywood’s Phantom Fright Nights run Friday & Saturday nights from 7 PM to 1 AM through October 29 (plus Sunday, October 9 from 7 PM to 11 PM). Zombie stuff!
•Steel City Zombies presents 10.ATE.11 Zombie Pub Crawl on the South Side! The crawl takes place on October 8 beginning at 7:30 PM with registration at The Rex Theater. Participating venues are: Diesel, Local, Carson City Saloon, Jack’s, Finn McCool’s, Tom’s Diner and The Courthouse Tavern. After the crawl, shamble back to the Rex for a show with The Werks and Sweet Earth. You must be 21 or older to participate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a reputable disaster relief organization. www.steelcityzombies.com
•Zom-B-Rama Zombie Carnival and Costume Pageant is back for its second year on October 22 starting at noon! Produced by Monroeville Zombies, the zombie event in the Monroeville Mall returns with a carnival/circus theme in a new location on the Macy's end of the mall. Come in costume and participate in zombie games, carnival games, contests, celebrities, arcade games, and the crowning of the 2011 Zombie King & Queen. •The 2nd Annual Franklin Zombie Walk shambles through town October 29 from 5 PM to 9 PM, with special guest Grand Zombie Gary Streiner! The event takes place from 13th St. and Franklin Ave. to 400 block of 12th St. (12th and Liberty). A new feature to this year is the FHS Black Knight marching band doing a performance to include "Thriller" so brush up on your Thriller dance. A Zombie Coffin Race is being planned but will only be run if he interest is high enough and we have a suitable number of entries.
