Very sad to report that the Joseph Beth Booksellers store in South Side Works is closing on Sunday. This was a nice store and the manager, Chris, was a big supporter of Horror Realm. We wish her well.
There is a clearance sale going on from now until closing and everything in the store is 40% off.

I wasn't there that often since I live near a Barnes & Nobel (hmmmm....maybe I'm part of the reason they're closing), but I liked Joseph Beth's. They had some nice events there. That's where I met Joe Namath & I'll never forget it.

I went last Sunday, found everything to have been picked over, so I bought a couple calendars. I drove around quite a while to find parking on the street, 4 blocks away. Therein lies the trouble with that location. Nobody is gonna pay $3-5 to park in a garage just to buy books---at least I'm not. Probably a lotta folks felt the same way. Parking in the garage makes sense if you're gonna hit several stores in the area. It seems likely to me that Jos.-Beth attracted the customer who stopped in coz they were in the area for an afternoon or evening of shopping, but they never attracted the customer who just wanted to shop for books.
