There was a TV show back in 1980 - 1981 called Fridays. Now Fridays was more cutting edge than SNL. They were on at like 11:30 and consistently had dope humor. During the second year the second year, ABC wanted the next season to be in prime time. The cast refused and the show was never seen again in it's entirety. There are no VHS or DVD copies to be had, unless you videotaped them yourself. This is where Larry David started. Folks....... Fridays' parody of the 3 Stooges : www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo-4p8L0jiYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=GCPuy9aNe0EFridays was also the show that introduced the world to the new King Crimson with Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, and Tony Levin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzRUH819eZsI loved Fridays. I remember episodes when the musical guests were the Clash & Rockpile. It was Rockpile's US TV debut for sure, & maybe the Clash as well. I remember seeing the Clash on Tomorrow.

I saw an episode of Tomorrow with the Grateful Dead. They did an all acoustic set that was just great. It was about the time that Reckoning was released. Snyder just let them play, which was fantastic.

Today's gripe : Disc Jockeys with less brains and taste than a box of Shredded Wheat. I was listening to my buddy's radio show today and the guy that followed, played Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower.. What pissed me off was that, with all the music Hendrix produced and is still being unearthed, why do DJ's insist on playing either Hey Joe, Purple Haze, or All Along the Watchtower ? You never hear Little Wing, Are You Experienced ?, Dolly Dagger, Fire, or Stone Free ? Yeah, yeah...... I know, the others were semi hits, but lets be fair about things. The second batch of songs listed are more than fair representations of his talent and his music too. And if you listen to his concert recordings, he rarely played Purple Haze, All Along the Watchtower or Hey Joe. Only around the time when Are You Experienced was released, did he play Hey Joe live. Purple Haze he played on In the West. Watchtower he played at the Isle of Wight. But with such a limited scope of vision by radio stations, its amazing that anyone even listens to the radio. Zappa had something printed on his album Absolutely Free : KILL UGLY RADIO ........ maybe he was right.

It's been years---literally almost 30 years---since I've listened to the radio. At home, I figure I can do a better job with my music collection than the folks on the radio do. Even in the car, I've always kept tapes---& now CD's---with my favorite stuff. Can't rely on radio to find the good stuff. You find it by frequenting good independent record stores, going to the clubs (which I don't do any more), & now, poking around the interweb.

Today's subject : Are Farts Lumpy ? This was a question raised by an old roommate. I'm not even sure why this came to mind this morning. Bad craziness abounds this morning. Waking up in a strange mindset usually makes the day go by easier for me. Its one of those questions that makes you chuckle. Answers range from "ask your father" to " what have you been smoking ?" I never got high with Ray. But we used to tear up Georgetown on Friday nights. Who but Ray could lean back in a chair, fall on his ass and not spill a drop of beer ? Georgetown will never be the same since Hurricane Ray came through. RIP Ray........

Wondering why the Zombie Nation has never been represented in a Homecoming Parade. It would definitely add some much needed class to an otherwise boring event. Just something that crossed my mind about an hour or so ago. I can just picture zombies on little motorcycles, zig zagging down the parade route. Or zombies in little cars instead of clowns. Who's with me on this ? Or am I alone again ? Has SJ finally boarded the little white bus that will take him to a place few return from ? Is Bldg. 7 on the horizon ?

The McRib is back !!!!!!!! I gotta tell ya...... this is beyond orgasmic. This was one of their better moments. Nobody else has even tried to attempt it. Its a shame that they don't keep this on their menu permanently. One of my buddies stopped by yesterday and brought me 2 of these MOFO's. Nothing like a real buddy. Ex servicemen hang together.

I saw this a little bit ago. Needless to say, I'm pissed off. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101109/pl_nm/us_usa_veterans_1And with more and more vets needing help, the powers that be continue to cut funding for VA programs. They brag about giving returning vets 2 years of free health care......... but then what ? To be eligible for healthcare, you must have 3 years of continuous active duty. If you make more than $12,000.00 a year, you're stuck with copays that are unreasonable. I don't know. Lets hope something changes pretty soon.

Yes indeed, tonight we have none other than everyone's favorite Pervert Pirate........ Commodore Commode himself. Avast there maties, belay that grab ass and harken to the Orders of the day. Shiver me timbers and excuse the splinter in me pantaloons. What did my weather eye spot but a website after me own heart named BOOBPEDIA. Finer than frog hair, I tell ye. Its got actresses, models, singers, entertainers......etc. If she's got knockers that hang loose like the balls on a moose, this site's got pictures, bios, measurements and whether they're natural or enhanced. Everything a Pervert Pirate could ask for except the wench. BOOBPEDIA, similar to Wikipedia, only more interesting......

Well boys and girls, as Gene Hackman once said in Uncommon Valor, " The situation is about to get terminal " in Korea. I hope it ain't so, but don't be surprised when Kim Jong Il does something else really stupid before Christmas. You can't trust anyone who has a pompadour haircut in this day and age.
Its a hell of a thing when your own country doesn't want you in a war, when the people you're trying to help don't want you in their country and the enemy hates you too. Its a no win situation, and you're right smack dab in the middle of the whole mess. Just something to think about.

Alright, everybody knows that I hate stupidity just about more than anything....... even my own. But when someone has the potential of being hurt by being somewhere, knows ahead of time, and goes anyway........ The chimes of stupidity and the idiot buzzer go off.
In this case, it's reporters in Egypt during the riots. Anderson Cooper gets sucker punched. Now a woman reporter was beaten and raped. What did they expect ? Candy ? Smiles from the people and shiny souvenirs ? They go where there's trouble, they get hurt and ZOWEE........ its makes news ! If they're stupid enough to jump into the fire and then say, " Shit, I'm getting burned. " They should expect it, not cry about it. Tough shit, you should have known better. I'm sorry, I just can't feel bad for them. They could have said no.

OK, as mentioned in the comics thread..... when my brothers and I were growing up and OCCASIONALLY belched, my Dad used to say, " Bring it up again, and we'll vote on it ! " ( My Mother gave up on us early in life.) The 3 of us used to have season tickets for the Penguins. ( I'm talking about the dark ages here. When Syl Apps and Jean Pronovost were playing for them. ) Anyway, we used to stop at the Burger King in Monroeville, across from the strip mall, on the way home after the game. It always ended up in a farting contest the rest of the way home. I'll tell ya folks, it got bad enough, that we ended up having to roll the windows down in the middle of Winter. And it was usually me that caused said windows to be rolled down. ( A badge of honor for me..... to this day ! ) Fond memories of cheap seats, good eats, and indiscreet tweets....

We probably crossed paths many times at the old Arena. I went to just about every Penguin home game back in the Apps/Pronovost days.

In the corner ( for some reason, I was always in the corner through life....) Rarely did the Penguins win in those days, even with Pierre Larouche. Hockey fans are like no other type of fan.

They had a few good players in those days, but never enough of 'em. I had a chance to talk to Larouche a few years ago & he was really cool. Seemed to enjoy talking to a fan who remembered seeing him play. The Pens weren't real popular in those days.
