OK, now its already assumed that everybody loves Jimi Hendrix. ;D What I'm curious about is which Hendrix album is your all time favorite and why. Without a doubt, my favorite is Band of Gypsies. First....... it shows Hendrix in a live situation, with all the mistakes. Second...... you actually get to hear what a fantastic musician he really was. Third ....... the song selection, for the most part, is strong.
Note : Greatest Hits and compilations are not valid.

I love questions like this one. It's a tough one. I believe that any credible list of the top 100 albums of all time has to include the 3 studio albums that Jimi made during his lifetime. Each of these 3 albums are different & on any given day I could say any one of 'em is my favorite, depending on how I feel, & it would be a truthful statement.
Are You Experienced? exploded onto the scene like a volcano. It was unlike anything up until that point. Yet for the most part the songs were kept to around a 3-minute length, so it was obviously a commercial attempt as well. The songs were easier to duplicate live than those on Axis: Bold As Love or Electric Ladyland, which had Jimi getting more complicated & more in love with studio trickery as he went along, so probably the songs on Are You Experienced? endeared themselves to many fans moreso than those on the other albums.
All 3 are works of brilliance. Sometimes one can overanalyze in this situation---I know I can---& when this happens, you gotta get down to the basic question of, which album do I reach for the most often? Electric Ladyland might be the winner if not for side 3, the "1983" side, which I have to be in the mood for. I reach for this one often, but mostly for sides 1,2, & 4. Applying this criteria, my favorite is Are You Experienced?

Axis. Some of Jimi's best playing is on that recording and the songwriting is strong.

So hard to choose. The 17 or so that came out after his death are all so good!
