This was supposed to be a down year for Pitt. Instead, it may be Jamie Dixon's finest coaching job of his career. I've always portrayed him as a lucky guy who fell into a good situation, but I need to take that back now.
PS - In Co-Go's this morning, I caught a glimpse of tomorrow's Post-Gazette. Front page story about DeJuan Blair in the NBA.

I didn't even know that the UConn women were in town to play Pitt yesterday until I saw it in yesterday morning's paper, so I decided to go to the game, even tho' I had nobody to go with. By now you all know that UConn extended their winning streak to 60 with a big win. When I got there, I found that I qualified for a senior citizen discount! (I'm 51.) So I got in for $2. I grabbed a seat in the end zone where UConn's bench was, in the 3rd row, which gave me the same view one would have in the 20th row at the Palumbo Center or the old Field House. (I'm not as enamored of the Pete Center as others are.) The atmosphere was unlike anything I've personally seen in a regular season women's basketball games. Much pomp & circumstance. Big crowd due to it being Girl Scouts Day & the many people who came down from CT. Pitt's coach made a speech about Girl Scouts. KDKA's Stacey Smith was honored for being old. Fans lined the entranceway to get a picture of Geno Auriemma, as tho' he were a rock star. I like being there in person coz I observe stuff that I can't see on TV. UConn really moves the ball around fast. On some of their plays, nobody even dribbled. Tina Charles is unstoppable. When Maya Moore scores, the net doesn't even move. And Geno is never satisfied. He yelled at his players every time Pitt scored, as tho' he expected a shutout. He yelled at the refs for every foul call & yelled at the player who fouled. He even yelled at his players when they scored, finding some fault in how they ran the play. No wonder they're one of the greatest teams in the history of sports. I'm glad I was there. I saw them twice during the Diana Tarausi era, so this was my third time.

So Pitt stinks tonight but WVU's fans are just exuding class by throwing debris on the court, even after Huggins got on the mic and told them to stop.

Dukes are supposed to play George Washington tonight in DC, where they've had 2 feet of snow. Can't believe that I haven't heard it's been postponed yet.

I lived in DC for 3 years. They have no concept of how to deal with snow of this magnitude. Hell, they get nervous when they get 3" of snow. They should have a special driving class that deals with how to drive in the snow. I hope someone comes to their senses.

Pittsburghers can drive in snow. They just can't drive in rain.

I'm still on the Duquesne emergency alert system and just got a text that the Lady Dukes game is still on at the Palumbo.

Pitt was supposed to be on FSN but it looks like they've been preempted for the Penguins.
At the risk of making some enemies 'round here, I must say that this really sucks.
