Neal Schon : Piranha Blues. Yeah, yeah, I know ewwwww Journey. Journey...... NO ! The stuff he did with Jan Hammer and some of his solo stuff ain't half bad. He did get Ross Vallory to play bass on this, but again .... NOT JOURNEY. This starts off like a 5 alarm fire, I just wish it had kept burning. But not bad all in all. All I can say is that Journey ruined Neal.

Buddy Guy and Junior Wells : Alone and Acoustic. Almost reminds me of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.

Peggy Lee & Benny Goodman - The Complete Recordings. Double CD set. Lots of flashes of brilliance from Peggy's earliest material. Hard to believe that so many experts consider it her weaker material. During this time a record co. exec once suggested that Peggy couldn't sing. Benny reacted by hitting him with a chair.

No Pirate game tonight to occupy my time, so it's been....
Sammy Davis, Jr. & Sam Butera - When It Hits You! One of those times it's hip to be square. Then:
Jennifer O'Connor - Over the Mountains, Across the Valley, and Back to the Stars.
Bob Dylan at Washington, DC on 4/3/04. An off night for His Bobness, but guitarist Freddy "Fuzzy" Koella has his greatest night in his 1-1/2 years as Dylan's lead guitarist. Includes what has to be the definitive version of "Down Along the Cove."

Found different versions of "Experiment in Terror". Some rock, some slow, some with words. I miss those old Saturday nights.

Paul McCartney live at our new arena last Thurs., 8/19/10. Good performance that I'm enjoying, but since Sir Paul plays everything so that it sounds almost exactly the record, I dunno how often I'll reach for this one. I prefer the anything-can-happen quality found in concerts by Dylan, Roy Buchanan, or the Grateful Dead. Altho' on this night Sir Paul does surprise us with Hendrix's "Foxy Lady."

The Apples in Stereo - Fun Trick Noisemaker. Just discovered this group today altho' this CD is from 1995. Catchy, carefully-crafted '60's pop. Best "new" artist I've come across in some time.

After breaking for the Apples in Stereo, I'm resuming my listening of the McCartney concert of 8/19/10. I woulda preferred to have the 8/18/10 show, the historic first show at the new arena, but it's becoming increasingly likely that it wasn't taped. Now I'm reading that the 8/19/10 show might end up having a lot more historical significance. If Sir Paul decides that this was his final tour---& he is 66 years old---then the 8/19/10 concert will have been his final concert.
