I'm into the Dylan/Midler session now. It's pretty cool, but it's one of those "strictly for fans" bootlegs. For the whole CD, they're working on a duet of "Buckets of Rain." It's interesting to hear His Bobness at work in the studio, rewriting the song, directing Midler ("I can't sing 'I ain't no monkey.'" "Sure you can."), & dealing with Midler's flirting ("I'm late for supper."). Nice addition to the collection.

Purchased today while observing Free Comic Book Day (& listening now):
Helen Humes - Knockin' Myself Out: 1927-1951.
Then (Pittsburgh's) Dodo Marmarosa Trio - Complete Studio Recordings.
It'll be a night of old jazz.

Passport : Earthound. Passport is a German Jazz band. Klaus Doldinger ( the band leader ) did the soundtrack for the movie Das Boot. The only type of Jazz I've never heard them do is Dixieland.

Bob Dylan : The Basement Tapes. There are some real treasures here. I used to have the bootlegs way back when.

Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat. A classic I haven't reached for in too long.

Kraftwerk : Radioactivity. Wow !! Its been too long since I dug this one out. I like to listen to electronic music in the dark. It adds something to the whole effect.

My Covenant CDs. Saw them a couple of nights ago with Vicar and Mr. and Mrs. Church1K. Awesome show. Vicar doesn't usually like this kind of music, but she's definitely a fan now. This and last month's Assemblage 23 show at the Rex were the most fun I've had out in ages!

Bootleg of Roy Buchanan & Scott "The Cat" Anderson at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY on 2/4/84. Die-hard Roy fans didn't care for the 1984-85 shows with "The Cat," dismayed that Roy would team up with an obscure Boston rockabilly guy & treat him as an equal on stage, even letting him take some guitar solos. But these are some very entertaining shows.

Charlie Musselwhite : Stone Blues. I'll fess up...... I watched the Celebrity Apprentice finale on HULU this morning. Toward the end, they let Cindy Lauper sing a song from her upcoming CD, that's all Blues. Lo and behold, on stage with her was none other than Charlie Musselwhite on harp. I got a boner ( actually a diamond cutter ) from some of the notes he played. It made me dig through my Blues collection today. I also ran across Long John Baldry's It Ain't Easy. 20 years ago, It Ain't Easy was a collector's item on vinyl.
