Elizabeth Cotten - Shake Sugaree. Brilliant folk, blues, gospel & ragtime guitarist whose discovery was accidental---she had taken a job as a maid for the parents of Pete Seeger & was busted one day playing one of the family's guitars. She was left-handed, but played right-handed guitars upside down with reversing the strings. When I hear something this good I wonder how people can listen to so much of the crap that's out there.

Hawkwind : Take Me To Your Leader. This is nice stuff. Heavy when it needs to be, yet still spacey. These days the Hawks consist of Dave Brock, Tim Blake, Richard Chadwick and Mr. Dibbs. Brock is the only founding member left. Still p*ssed that they don't tour the USA.

Flo And Eddie : Illegal, Immoral And Fattening. By this time ( 1974 ), Flo and Eddie ( Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan ) and their band had picked up where they'd left off with Zappa. Rude, crude and VERY politically incorrect. Irreverent would pretty well describe this one. Of course, I love it ! I'm afraid that record companies would balk at this one these days.

Neil Young : Tonight's the Night. A really, really heavy album dealing with the death of Bruce Berry, a roadie and friend of Neil's. He died of an overdose about the same time as Danny Whitten, a member of Crazy Horse OD'd. Both of the death's left a heavy mark on Neil for a few years. This album and Lou Reed's Berlin tied for the most depressing album of all time.

John Mayall : Behind The Iron Curtain. A live show from Hungary featuring Walter Trout and Coco Montoya. Trout is a BAD MOFO on guitar. He impressed me enough for me to seek out his solo stuff. Anyway, this was recorded in 1981 and rocks down the house. Definitely worth checking out.

Acoustic Alchemy : Sounds Of St. Lucia. If you like acoustic Jazz guitar, then this is a must have CD. Recorded live in Italy at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival in 2003. A+

Uriah Heep : Live 1973. What can I say ? Great band, great singer, great songs, etc....... Too bad that people missed this band. They're still together, still touring and they have a new album out. Seriously...... check these guys out. New CD is called Into the Wild. Also some nice live stuff recorded this year. I'm waiting on a live bootleg from Kawasaki, Japan.

Adrian Belew : Twang Bar King. I like this, but not as much as Lone Rhino, his first release. I got to see him with Zappa, King Crimson and solo. Always entertaining.

Nektar : Remember The Future. I'm listening to Nektar Radio, a feature for " Fans Of Nektar. " You can listen to entire albums of their's for free. As many albums as you like. This is great for the fans and a way to listen to albums you never bought. RTF is really good btw.

Schenker - Pattison Summit : The Endless Jam. For a guy like me, this is the tits for an album. Michael Schenker and Davey Pattison doing nothing but covers. Schenker just wails on guitar. There's a follow up called the Endless Jam Continues which is even better ! This one has Hey Joe, Pearly Queen, A Whiter Shade of Pale and Theme From An Imaginary Western among others.
There's also a brand new jam album called By Invitation Only.

Michael Schenker Group : One Night At Budokan. A top notch live album with great song selection. Band members, among others, include Paul Raymond from Savoy Brown and Cozy Powell. Cozy played with the best. Seems I'm on a Michael Schenker kick. It could be worse. It could be Rex Smith ! ( Don't ask. )
