Anybody else participate in National Record Store Day?
I checked the limited editions on the web site & the only one that I really wanted was the Skip James LP. The Count & I started out at Paul's CDs in Bloomfield, where they had just one copy of the Skip James. Another customer & I got to the record bin at the same time & agreed to look together, & fortunately, he didn't want Skip James, so I got it.
Then we headed to Jerry's, where they don't carry any of the limited editions, but they do grill free hot dogs in the back alley. This year coz of the rain, the food was brought indoors. While there, I picked up excellent-condition copies of The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper (SJ is gonna disown me for not having owned this one previously) & June Christy Recalls Those Kenton Days (the Count, who's getting more like his dad every day, kept making fun of this choice, saying, "Yeah, who can forget those Kenton days???").
A productive day. All told, $35 for 3 great albums, a hot dog, & a Pepsi. Life is good.

Yeah, some of it is out of tune, but in those days they didn't have 8 or 10 backup guitars that a roadie could hand them. There's also a CD of the show they did in New York with Johnny Winter guesting on a track. This was before anyone had signed him. Johnny had played with Bloomfield previously, in Chicago. If you can find a copy, Live At Bill Graham's Fillmore West is also excellent. It has Bloomfield, Nick Gravenites, Bob Jones, and Taj Mahal on it.

I have a bootleg from the Fillmore West shows. This was from opening night. I believe that Bloomfield & his band were opening for the Byrds. After hearing 'em the first night, Graham decided that for the rest of the week, the Byrds would be opening for Bloomfield. Either way that would be a dream doubleheader.
I've since picked up the new Hot Tuna CD. I remembered that I had a few bucks left on a Best Buy gift card so I mail ordered it. It's worthy of all the positive press it's received.
