Today's subject : Diet Dr. Pepper. There are only a few diet sodas worth a fuck : Diet Sierra Mist, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, Cherry Coke Zero and Diet Dr. Pepper. The others seem to have an aftertaste like they've been strained through a sweaty gym sock. Diet Dr. Pepper really does taste good when its cold. I tried an experiment drinking all of these warm. Diet Sierra Mist was the only one that I could stomach warm. I spent 2 years in Naples, Italy and unless you got your soda out of a vending machine on base, they served the MOFO warm - everywhere you went................. Mmm boy ! The same with beer. Thank God for beer machines. Diet Dr. Pepper gets an erection from SJ..........

I grew up in a house where my family lived with my Italian immigrant grandparents. They always served pop at room temperature. (I don't wanna say "warm" coz they didn't warm it up, & I note that warm pop & cold coffee are actually at the same temperature.) I had no idea that people drank cold pop until I was about 12-13 years old, when I offered one to a friend & he said, "I'm not drinkin' warm pop!"
Of course, today I drink it cold, either outta the fridge or with ice in it. On the rare occasion, however, I'll be thinking of my grandparents while pouring a pop & I'll drink it warm in their honor.

Unless I'm at a restaurant, etc..., I always drink my diet Dew at room temp. I have it stored under my cabinet. I started due to lack of space in the fridge, but just continued the practice.

Is it a Euro thing to serve soda warm? Anytime I got a soda in Ireland it was warm and also in super small glasses, about the size of a juice glass.

I remembering being told that Beer/Ale was served room temp alot in Europe because they didn't have the same cooling systems we have here. No idea if that is true.

I enjoy coke at room temp. I used to enjoy regular coke, pepsi and mountain dew at room temp. Its just now, I can't drink regular soda because of diabetes. So I gotta deal with diet soda. Diet A&W root beer is also really good.

I'd always heard that they serve room temperature beer all over Europe because that was the way it had always been served. Kind of a tradition thing. But what Rich says could very well be true. Plus, the added expense of coolers would drive the bar owners out of business. Electricity is outrageous in Europe.

We always got room temperature beer in Asia too. Funny, but the mixed drinks always had ice in them. Used to drink Midori on the rocks when I could find a decent bar. ( Translation : A bar where the girls weren't grabbing or rubbing your crotch and asking you to buy them drinks. After a while that shit gets old.)

I hate Diet Pop and the fact that is what I'm supposed to drink now makes me hate it even more. It's always so damn super sweet. Warm beer, ugh! I have a few uncles who have always drank their beer warm, I always thought that warm beer tasted like urine. I'm the freak at the bar who asks for a glass of ice with my bottle of beer.

I guess my taste is just simple, because I always thought the lighter, clearer ones had hardly any diet taste to them. Just IMO-diet Sprite, & diet 7Up seemed to hardly have that nasty aftertaste. No matter, because I stopped drinking pop regularly anymore. Sometimes friends only have that at their home, & that's what I suck down. Beggars can't be choosers. I don't drink alcohol, so I do have a soft drink when I am out at a bar w/friends, or at a party, or mixer, but I'd rather have BLOOD....mu-ahh ahh ahhhhh. Today's Subject : Prescription Copay. OK, I get the copay thing, but does it really have to be as high as it is ? VA copay is now at $9 a script and $100 a pop for clinics. Folks, I can't afford it anymore. Stone cold reality. I can get 2 scripts at Giant Eagle for what I have to pay at the VA for one. Problem is that the VA won't or can't transfer their prescriptions. Told my doc that if he wants me to have tests done, that he'd have to pay for them outta his pocket, cause the bank of SJ is closed.
I don't mean to complain, but the illusion of "We'll take care of your medical needs for life" is BS. They claim that they'll provide free medical coverage for 2 years for returning Gulf War vets, but what happens after the 2 years is up ? For benefits, you must have 3 years continuous active service now. When I signed on, it was 180 days of continuous active service. What about those guys ? Something just isn't right here. Sorry to take up your time......... Raving and drooling has become too easy these days.

Today's subject : Human Guinea Pigs..... I've decided that its time for Old SJ to become a professional guinea pig. I've got enough shit going wrong with me now that somewhere, somehow docs are trying to figure out how to cure it. The compensation alone will help out tremendously, especially with Christmas coming. Plus, they provide the medication, so I won't have any copay ! The worst that could happen is I end up like the pharmacist from Fridays. And really, how far am I away from that already ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ghh5yXlEawwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6FYVRn2_cY

Can't figure that one out. Maybe I was overqualified. May have to hock the guitars, amp and PA system and go to Berlin. They paid mall Santas $ 15,000.00 for the Christmas season last year. I gotta dig out my German dictionary. Unfortunately, third and fourth year high school German concentrated on verb conjugation mostly. Not much vocabulary and I gotta remember it was almost 40 years ago. It ain't easy........

There was a TV show back in 1980 - 1981 called Fridays. Now Fridays was more cutting edge than SNL. They were on at like 11:30 and consistently had dope humor. During the second year the second year, ABC wanted the next season to be in prime time. The cast refused and the show was never seen again in it's entirety. There are no VHS or DVD copies to be had, unless you videotaped them yourself. This is where Larry David started. Folks....... Fridays' parody of the 3 Stooges : www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo-4p8L0jiYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=GCPuy9aNe0EFridays was also the show that introduced the world to the new King Crimson with Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, and Tony Levin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzRUH819eZs
