Don't know yet. The much ballyhooed one hour ESPN special with the announcement has hit the 11 minute mark without anything from James yet.
Most likely Miami.

Boo. I will root for every team but Miami, even the Lakers which goes against everything that is good.

Ah yes, Miami the super-team!
Looks good on paper, but games are won on the court.
I'm not fan of any Cleveland team, but I do feel bad for thier fans.

Lebron is(was) such a revered figure in Cleveland. His moving on isn't good for sports. Sorta like the A-Rod situation. Guy makes good money to turn a team into a winner, gets tired of it, goes to a team that spends big money assembling an all-star team so he can "get" (not earn) a championship, then acts like it was a great accomplishment. I was, however, amused at the speculators who loaded up on MSG thinking that Lebron was going to the Knicks. They lost 4.61% today. They shoulda called Iron Rich first & let him talk 'em out of it.

Joe, you have a valid point about *earning* a championship. rather than just being part of one. Cleveland Cavalier's owner Dan Gilbert had quite a rant, after Lebron signed with Miami. The problem is, that he spolied his young superstar, right from the start. James got everything he wanted and then some...all with the hope we would remain in Cleveland.

Yeah, Terry, I saw the owner's rant, too. Given what I said about this being a sad chapter in sports history, at the same time, the rant seemed over the top to me. Can't Lebron change jobs & move on to something better like so many of us do? I left a company I worked for for 23 years to move on to something that I thought would be better. (It wasn't---long story.)
I do admire the owner's passion, coz it's clear that he's a fan himself as well as a businessman. The eternal conflict in sports today is the fact that what's good for the fans isn't good for the players & vice-versa. It was great for the fans back in the day when we knew we'd get to watch the same players play for the home team, year after year after year, but guys like Roberto Clemente or Mickey Mantle or Wilt Chamberlain didn't make anywhere near the money they coulda made in an open market.
You can bet that the same Lebron PR machine that conjured up that hokey ESPN special will soon publish an open letter to the Cleveland fans from Lebron. After all, Lebron wants to sell merchandise to them, too.

...guys like Roberto Clemente or Mickey Mantle or Wilt Chamberlain didn't make anywhere near the money they coulda made in an open market. This is the down side any market anything. Money collects other money. Enough money can buy almost anything or anyone needed to make more money. Which is why it baffles me when dirt poor people rage against Socialism. I'm not saying government should be the means by which wealth is redistributed, but redistributed it must be lest it all collect at the top like it's been doing...

We've had socialism in this country every year of my life. No matter who's in power, they find a way to fund their priorities by taking from somewhere else. Anything more I can say would run afoul of the ban on political discussions that exists here, if I'm not perilously close already. Suffice it to say that it gets tiresome seeing the richer teams in sports get better, not coz they're smarter than the others, but coz they're richer. Sports is supposed to provide escapism, not remind us of real life.

In the interest of not getting overtly political as well, let me just say that all professional sports should have some means of leveling the economic playing field. Salary cap, jus' sayin'...

While on the subject of what's wrong in sports today, another thought came to mind while watching the Futures Game today. I'd rather see that one played as National League vs. American League, which makes more sense to me, than the US vs. the World, separating the players according to where they were born, despite all of 'em being part of US organized baseball. There's been a trend since 9/11 of trying to gear competitions toward being the US vs. the foreigners---they even did it with the Home Run Derby one year. Is this supposed to make me more patriotic?
