Who are some of your favorite guests that you've met at conventions?

Usually, for me, the friendliest guests are my favorites. Not necessarily the ones who take the time to talk to each and every fan (although, that is a HUGE bonus) but the ones who generally seem like they are having a good time and are enthusiastic about meeting their fans. There is nothing more depressing than seeing a guest who simply doesn't want to be at a con and treats their fans like garbage or acts like they don't care. Thankfully, out of the 50 or so guests I've met in my life only 3 times did I have an urge to throw the 8x10 picture I paid $20-40 for them to autograph back on their table. I won't name names as 'artists' tend to be on a constant emotional roller coaster ride so one day they treat people like sh!t and another day they act like they are on ecstasy. Kinda bipolar I guess.
Anyway, the ones who I have met that were super awesome and approachable were:
Clive Barker - This guy didn't even want our money as he signed for free. He was energetic, talked with everyone, and refused to leave until the last person in line got his autograph.
Roddy Piper - Just an all around fun person. Chatted endlessly with his fans, joked with them, flirted with the women. The man was a BLAST!
Tiffany Shepis - Just simply awesome!! Well, that's if she gets a positive vibe from you or else forget about it, Mr. Hyde comes out to play. But really, extremely generous actress...if she likes you.
Danny Trejo - This is what I mean when a guest doesn't necessarily have to talk to you to be really nice. We exchanged merely a few words, asked him whether Machete was indeed gonna be made into a movie (met him 2 years ago), he said yes. We posed for a picture, shook hands. I observed him dealing with other fans and he was having the time of his life. Very enthusiastic and loved the attention.
Angela Bettis - On the flip side there was the very chatty Angela Bettis. We discussed her more independent features instead of the obvious, like May.

After this weekend I have a bunch of new guests that I would consider the best. Just from Frightmare this weekend I would say: Lance Henriksen John Amplas Derek Mears Terry Alexander Bill Mosley George Romero
Those are my favorites from this weekend but every last guest had a positive vibe this weekend and were great with the fans.

Ya, Romero is really nice too.
Did you meet Carpenter? If so, how was he?

Carpenter was nice but there were so many people there to see him so he didn't really seem to let down. You could tell there was a heck of guy inside but I think the event was stressing him a bit.

I'm going to try to not write a novel here...
Brigitte Lahaie - French actress who appreared in several Jean Rollin films. Met her a convention -(along with Jean Rollin)- back in 99. Due to the show not being well attended, and the fact that I was working a table, for the show's promoter, I had ample opportunity to speak with her. Very nice woman, didn't charge for her autograph, only for whatever you bought from her table. I have like seven different things signed by her, including lobby poster from the film FASCINATION.
William Smith- Legendary tough guy actor, met him twice. He enjoys talking with fans, and had some very amusing things to say about films and people he worked with. He talked about working with Clint Eastwood in ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN, and how the two of them choreographed their fight scene. A real pleasure to talk with.
Geoffrey Lewis- Another guy that worked with Eastwood, in several films. I started bring up his role in the "Any Which Way But Loose/Any Which Way You Can" films, and he grumbled "oh...you mean those APE movies...." I could tell it wasn't something he particularly liked, -(honesty is appreciated)- so talked about some of his other work, and I found out he was happy with SALEM'S LOT, and enjoyed getting to play a vampire.
Tanya Roberts- I got biology lesson from Tanya....unfortunately it wasn't human anatomy... Seriously, I asked her about the movie SHEENA, where her character rides a zebra. Tanya informed me that you can't ride a zebra, and in the movie, those were painted horses she was riding. I felt really stupid. However, she was very nice, and didn't shy away from signing a copy of Playboy, that she posed for.

Caroline Munro- Had the pleasure of meeting her at a few shows. Told me that CAPTAIN KRONOS:VAMPIRE HUNTER was her favorite film role-(and is my favorite film with her). The last CW show she was at, her and Martine Beswicke partied with the fans, in the hotel lobby, on Saturday night. I found that to be quite endearing. Ingrid Pitt- Met her a very small a show in Chicago, back in 03. Delightful woman, to say the least. She was having a panel disussion, along with actress Joanne Cassidy. Told a funny story about when she worked on the film WHERE EAGLES DARE with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Apparently, word got back to her that the two actors had a bet, on who would sleep with her first. She confronted them on the film set, and asked "who won?", knowing that niether did. William Forsythe- Another memorable tough guy actor. who seemed delighted with my priase for his role in EXTREME PREDJUDICE-(one of my favorites). He likes to recite his lines from his past roles, which amused me to no end. John Saxon- Met him few times, and would be more than happy to talk with him again. He enjoyed talking about some of his more obscure work, like the film he made with Robert Redford in the 60's- WAR HUNT. He plays a psycho in the film, and had many amusing things to say about it. I'll stop there

My pal UFO Joe and I met him at Monster Bash a few years back. Incredibly friendly, great stories...the man should write a book.

I figure Tiffany Shepis must have the patience of Job because she spent three whole days around Iron Rich and never once punched him in the dick. She is very shiny. I would love to meet Angela Bettis just because she seems like a sweet kid. Loved her in everything I've seen her in. She did an amazing job directing Roman.

Funny thing is, I told her I liked Roman, and she replied with a rather bland "Really? You liked it?". I was kind of caught off guard and said, "Uhh, ya, why? You didn't like it?". She then told me how it was 'changed' by the studio, key scenes were removed. "In that case, I hope a director's cut DVD comes out one day".

I've been fortunate that nearly every guest I've met was pretty friendly but the guests that go out of their way to make fans feel extra special and appreciated really stand out and make a lasting impression. Those select few are as follows:
Herschell Gordon Lewis- a total class act, meet this man and you'll understand just what I'm talking about
David F. Friedman- see HGL...both of these living legends were easily the nicest and most appreciative guests I've met.
Caroline Munro- an absolute sweetheart! She would talk to you like she'd known you for years and you were catching up.
Caroline Williams- met her several times now...very enthusiastic and will personalize your items any way you'd like...she complimented my poster design and even wanted some pics holding it! Plus she's got that sweet drawl you could listen to for days!
The entire cast of Night of the Creeps- you could tell they were having so much fun meeting fans, very genuine and camera happy!
Karen Fields and Desiree Gould- very gracious and sincere...two of the nicest for me personally, they loved my poster design and even asked about how I made it...I've stayed in touch with both of them and even did some design work for Karen for her whole "Judy" persona in Sleepaway Camp.
I could clearly go on, but these fine people sit at the top of my list.
