What's the word on NOES? I've been reading lots of bad stuff. What do the real people think? In a word: frustrating. In several bazillion more... If you've seen the trailer, you may have caught the hint of a new direction they're going with Freddy. (Hint: when Jackie Earl Hailey's trapped by the parents.) It gets undone in the second half. Hailey is great in the role until, for some odd reason, he switches from mean and menacing to trying to outdo Englund in the quip department. Even worse is that some of his one-liners are recycled from the first, the fourth, and even Freddy vs Jason. He does have a great line involving brain death, though. The recreations of the classic moments from the first movie end up either cheesy (Freddy pressing through the wall) or unintentionally funny (the Tina substitute's death scene looks more like a botched stunt during a production of Peter Pan). Connie Britton and Clancy Brown? Utterly wasted. Liked the micronap concept. The nightmares themselves actually look creepy. The teens are all dull and interchangeable. No standouts. The ending sucks. They use the old Elm Street standby for eliminating Freddy and compound it by once again swiping from Freddy vs Jason. The new Nancy even swipes a closing line from that one but delivers it in a monotone. Overall, though, I'd say give it a rent or go to a dollar theater. Don't pay the full price.

Any buzz or thoughts on Black Swan? I'm leaning towards rental. My expectations are minimal but I will check it out because Mila Kunis is hot.

Has anyone seen Battle : Los Angeles ? I was wondering what the word is on this. I love the idea of aliens blowing the shit out of LA. Is it worth seeing in the theater or should I wait for the DVD ?
