Ernest Borgnine. This has been a bad month for 60's TV stars.

Ron Palillo. Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter. He died from a heart attack. Only 63. This is a real shock to me.

Joe South. Singer, songwriter session musician. I first heard of him on the liner notes of Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde. They make those things for you to read and enjoy and to let you know who's making that wonderful music that you're listening to. ( Check this album out. You won't be disappointed. ) news.yahoo.com/joe-south-singer-songwriter-70s-dies-72-004031085.htmlHe's the guy who wrote I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and he wrote Hush, the Deep Purple hit.

Huw Lloyd-Langton. Lead guitarist off and on for Hawkwind from day one. His sound reminded me a little of BOC. There were times when you just neer knew where he would go with a song. I'e been listening to him for 30 years now. He was only 61 and died from cancer. Get checked, you neer know. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMISM0dIxpk

This really sucks for me. One of my all time guitar heroes passed away today. Alvin Lee played like the devil. God, he was good. Yeah, it was 12 bar boogie, but he always played incredibly hard, no matter what the size of the audience was. I saw him play for 60,000 fans in ball parks to a club like Mancini's in McKees Rocks. And he always gave it everything he had. I'm going to miss him. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKB1XfvobuYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=7NS-U5Tk6bo

Karen Black. Mother Firefly. Such a shame. Trilogy of Terror - Zuni fetish doll. Enough said. RIP. Every time I saw Karen Black in a movie or on TV all I could ever think about was the last scene in Trilogy of Terror with her holding that knife and the razor sharp teeth waiting for her mother to come visit.

Lou Reed. Innovator, poet, guitar player. This man changed Rock for the better. He wrote some incredible lyrics and told tales from the darker alleys that maybe you should stay out of. I saw Lou 3 or 4 times and went away in astonishment. The really sad thing is how kids today have no clue as to who Lou was. Everybody should have a copy of Rock n Roll Animal or at the very least Berlin. This ruined Halloween for me this year. Sweet Jane : www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FdWPeHFAMk

Edgar Froese. Founding member of Tangerine Dream. The only original member of TD that was still touring. Until fairly recently TD was a 3 member band that played Electronic music. I discovered them in early 1975 in an article in Crawdaddy. They were playing cathedrals exclusively in those days. The article intrigued me, so when they played a local cathedral in Naples, I went. They had a laser show and were so loud. They were different, in that there was no singing, just synthesizers, electronic drums and a flute sometimes. Very creative. I became a fan. Their records and cassettes weren't readily available in the Post Exchange, so I waited until I was discharged to go to a real record shop. To make a long story short I followed them faithfully till the mid 90's. Then I started listening again in 2010. The band has a real drummer, a sax player, a few keyboards and 2 guitar players. The music is fuller and richer now. RIP Edgar.

Very, very sad news for the Horror Community. Sir Christopher Lee has passed on. He played every part with an air of dignity and could play any part imaginable. He will always be remembered by anyone who has seen his movies.
